Rooting and jailbreaking has various advantages. First, the installed applications give smartphones unimagined functionalities (Malenkovich, 2013). Second, it allows flexible application management of devices. According to Malenkovich (2013), users can transfer data from old to new smartphones or even restore the older version of an application into innovative versions. Finally, it entails new security features.
On the other hand, the applications encompass disadvantages as well. The process turns smartphones into a lifeless plastic piece, raising new security threats (Malenkovich, 2013). Second, the applications hand over the phone’s administrative policies and rights to the added features (Malenkovich, 2013). Lastly, the devices’ changes may come as a surprise to the users, posing operation challenges.
