Cross-Impact Analysis- Federal GovernmentCSEC 670 Cybersecurity Capstone

To better understand the cybersecurity capstone simulation, I looked at the description of the scenario and what is expected and how each action affects performance. The simulation teams consist of federal government, Avisitel (telecommunications), DTL Power (power), Mistral Bank (financial services), Hytema (defense contractor). Understanding how these teams are affected by decisions, cyber attacks, cyber security, and improved cyber defense allowed me to determine the likely strategies. I looked into the likely impact of computer attacks and how the actors involved react and are affected depending on the simulation results. Gathering information helps to respond to different scenarios and detect possible improvements in procedures from round 1 to 4 and this is a this is a learning experience. The student manual also helped to learn how the cyber defense techniques, team profile goals and role responsibilities are closely linked in the simulation process. This is a cross-impact analysis of the cybersecurity simulation for the federal government.
Besides the federal government, the other teams were: Avisitel, DTL Power, Mistral Bank and Hytema. Ideally, the government establishes appropriate infrastructure and framework to support cybersecurity (Asllani, White & Ettkin, (2013). The threats that were likely to affect the operations were identified and ensuring that the cyber security measures are adequate is a top priority, and budgetary allocations ought to cover the most critical assets (Paté‐Cornell et al., 2018). Avisitel in the telecommunications team affects the downtime and reputation and the downtime was higher than 110, the cut off for the trigger condition. There are attempts to improve the reputation, but Avisitel reduced the indicator. Since Avisitel provides telephone and broadband services it is important in ensuring effective telecommunication service delivery. The trigger value for the “popular sentiment” indicator for the government is 97, 91 and 79 for round 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The downtime for Avisitel for rounds 1, 2 and 3 increased and this is a concern.
Securing the power infrastructure and ensuring that it functions properly is important to secure critical assets and DTL Power affects reputation. For the four rounds, the likely impact is gradual decrease and there is also impact on the profitability (surplus), network load and employee morale. Thus, it is necessary to consider how cyber security affects the critical infrastructure, and it is expected that the sector complies with the technological standards and be protected from possib...
