Single collections refer to a single collection of documents, similar to how a relational database would store them. Such means it's easy to retrieve and query the entire collection, but you can't access individual documents without first querying for them. Single collections refer to documents with no schema. Each document is stored as a separate BSON object. The only restrictions on the structure of documents in a single collection are that they must have an ID field and cannot contain other collections (Yassine & Awad, 2018). In a single-collection database, there is only one collection at a time. An individual cannot use multiple collections simultaneously or create new ones. They are used for applications that store and retrieve data as easily as possible. In such a case, they are more reliable than embedded documents.
