Communication involves the transfer of data and instructions from one computer to another. Computer networks can either be Wide Area Network (WAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) or Local Area Network (LAN) (Bonaventure, 2016). In terms of network architecture, computers can either be configured based on two main models; peer to peer, which is inexpensive but can accommodate less than 10 computers, or between the client and the server. The software, hardware, and protocols make up the fundamental components of a computer network. These components work together to make up the entire network infrastructure. The commonly used protocols are networking or communication protocols, mainly the TCP/IP (Bonaventure, 2016).
