Successes and Failures of the Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation is one of the first US-written constitutions. It was written in 1777, and its advancement was decelerated by doubts of central powers and comprehensive land rights by the states. On the contrary, the Articles of Confederation elated every US state to be independent as the national government was only responsible for the security and overall welfare (Koekkoek, 2020). The purpose of the articles was to make the federal government as weak as possible—however, there are some successes and weaknesses associated with the amendments.
The Success of the Articles of Confederation
1 The state signed a treaty with its immediate alliance, France, in 1778
2 State succeeded in waging war for independence against British
3 State also succeeded in negotiating an end to the American Revolution in a signed Paris treaty in the early 1780s.
