These two empires are one of the greatest empires that ever ruled the Asian continent between since the 13th century. The Ming empire came to power through a peasant uprising led by Zhu Yuanzhang (known posthumously as Emperor Taizu). The Ming dynasty conquered Yuan dynasty that had previously occupied and controlled the land for a century. He Ming empire left an indelible mark by building the forbidden city which took about 15 years and over one million workers to complete. The Mongol Empire existed during the 13th and 14th centuries and was the largest land empire in history. The empire unified the nomadic Mongol and Turkic tribes of historical Mongolia.
