The Great Depression in the United States was a period that oversaw great changes in the way the government handled economic matters. It is the period that there was a shift in the direct involvement of the government in economic and social matters of the country. This era was observed by two presidents; Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt who was his successor. These two had very different modes of handling the depression, and their decisions during this time can also be used to apply to the current economic scenario. Hoover's approach was more hands-off and resisted the attempts to directly, and was more conservative in his approach as compared to Roosevelt's more direct approach.
