The industrial revolution is one of the most exciting periods for many families who moved to the crowded cities in hope to earn more money. Like other children, the eight-year-old Daisy did not experience much fun as a child who grew up in a big city. Daisy worked in a cotton mill with her parents. She was not lucky to attend school because the family earned so little to even make ends meet (Davies & Frink, 2014).
Daisy was orphaned at an early age, being an orphan; Daisy was subjected to long hours of work because of her size, which enabled her to move into small spaces in factories where adults could not fit (Davies & Frink, 2014). Like Daisy, orphaned children were easy to control and manage because they had no one to turn to for help except their former parent’s employers.
