Question 1: What can youth gain by developing metabolic fitness at a young age?
Youth can benefit from metabolic fitness since their bodies continually develop towards maturity at a later stage in life. Therefore, youth tend to possess an increased need for energy due to the growth and development occurring in their bodies. Thus, metabolic fitness enables their bodies to function optimally by utilizing the power from food and the environment.
Initiating activities such as exercise to improve metabolism from an early age helps develop body muscles, bones, ligaments and joints. Such development ensures that an individual’s body can increase its tolerance towards activities that strain the body. Therefore, increased tolerance enables improved daily functioning involving activities requiring alertness and concentration. Furthermore, metabolic fitness ensures that their bodies can also counteract conditions and diseases related to the deterioration of muscle and bone functions.
Apart from that, metabolic fitness enables the development of cardiovascular activities with the heart and lungs able to perform optimally. In turn, this increases endurance, which can further improve with age when started during an individual’s early years. The increased oxygen intake ensures that the individual can enjoy a high-quality life through activities that stimulate efficiency and reduce instances of stress on the body.
