I knew I wanted to be a nurse when my family and I started taking care of my grandfather until his death. At the time, my grandfather was uninsured, and we could not afford to buy him medical insurance to cover his hospice care. My grandfather had end-stage kidney disease, and he came to live with us so he could have someone to take care of him in his last days.
Honestly, taking care of him was the hardest thing I ever had to do. However, it was also the most rewarding.
