Types of standards that I identified in addition to standard languages
A review of the Survey of the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP, 2020) was helpful as it highlighted various standards critical to communication in the health sector. The platform had 19 standards defining communication among at least three parties. Notably, clients or patients are the regulation’s central goal. The same focus was observed in reviewing the Health Level Seven Standards. The systems and regulations are established to promote data safety, quality, and transfer efficiency to enhance service delivery, management, and research purposes. Some of the highlighted standards in HITSP included Biosurveillance, consumer Empowerment, Quality, emergency responder electronic health record, medication management, personalized healthcare, immunization and response management, and remote monitoring.
Personalized healthcare and Remote monitoring impressed me as some of the standards affecting patients directly and involving close monitoring of pertinent information. For instance, personalized healthcare involves family history and DNA lab orders used to design treatment options specific to a patient’s genomic constitution (HITSP, 2020).
