Question 1
Point A is that marriage can be challenging. For instance, one of the notes written by Mary says, “Husband or throw pillow? Wife or hot water bottle? Marriage or an old cardigan? Love or explaining how to use the remote control?” It is clear from these short questions how Mary views their marriage. After many years together, their marriage has turned into a dull and loveless partnership that they have to endure. Point B is that love is everlasting. Although George only loved Mary and could not find it in his heart to feel the same way for Emma, George cannot help disclosing his love for Emma at the end of the play. Hence, “We hear the voices on George’s tape saying, “I love you,” in every conceivable language.”
