Type of Fall-Prevention Programs

Essay Instructions:

While the implementation plan prepares students to apply their research to the problem or issue they have identified for their capstone change proposal project, the literature review enables students to map out and move into the active planning and development stages of the project.
A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Statement Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 750-1,000 word review that includes the following sections:
Title page
Introduction section
A comparison of research questions
A comparison of sample populations
A comparison of the limitations of the study
A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research
Please see attached documents (PICOT on '' fall management and prevention'' and " literature Evaluation Table") as indicated.

Introduction
Falls resulting in injuries have been a significant area of concern in healthcare centers because they increase the cost of treatment and interfere with the recovery process of patients. Among the cause of falls are the various medical procedures that might alter the mobility of the patient, medications, and the frequency of visiting the toilet. Therefore, this calls for hospitals to come up with fall prevention or reduction strategies to enhance the satisfaction rate of patients and their families. A lot of research has been done in the past, using different samples and research questions to come up with an effective way of preventing or reducing falls. As well, the studies have various limitations, which alters their reliabilities.
Comparison of research questions
A study was carried out to determine the type of fall-prevention programs that might be effective in reducing the number of injurious falls among older people (Tricco, Thomas, Veroniki, Hamid, Cogo, Strifler, Straus, 2017). The information would help in encouraging quick recovery among the elder people who are most prone to old age disorders. Other studies discussed were done to understand the risk factors of falls among the elderly as well as the possible prevention strategies for such falls. As well, the role played by doctors in the prevention of the harm that could result from falls among inpatients (Morris & O'Riordan, 2017). These research questions focus on the causes of falls in healthcare centers as well as the various preventive measures that could be implemented to promote the health of the patients. Another research question focuses on the extent to which the primary care practice for fall prevention aligns with current evidence (Phelan, Aerts, Dowler, Eckstrom & Casey, 2016). The research question would help in finding out whether the implemented strategies for fall prevention would be effective in promoting the patient's health. Unlike the other research questions, it would enable the hospitals to come up with strategies that they think would work best. A hypothesis has been made on whether specific patient characteristics such as serum electrolytes and the usage of walking devices could further stratify the risk of falls among hospitalized patients (Gringauz, Shemesh, Dagan, Israelov, Feldman, Pelz-Sinvani & Segal, 2017). The question aligns with the study that was carried out to identify the cause of falls among adult patients.
Comparison of sample populations
Some of the studies used a sample population of adults aged between 65 and 90 years of age, while another study used a population sample of 21-years old patients and hospital staff. The results of the research are that individuals from both ages are faced with the risks of falls. The falls could occur to the patients while in the hospital acute and sub-acute wards. Therefore, while implementing the fall prevention strat...
