In our lives, we sometimes have to do some of the things that we do not like in order to achieve our goals or to accomplish something. Often, we assume that by avoiding stressful and difficult situations we can live a happy life. However, this is not always the case because we are sometimes required to engage in those things that we do not enjoy doing in order to lead a more fulfilling life that is without regrets. Activities such as going to school, seeing the doctor, participating in sports or doing exercises can easily be avoided but in doing so, we may have to live with the repercussions of avoiding them. Therefore, in our daily lives, we have to do things that we do not wish to do to get something and avoid some consequences.
Everyone has likes and dislikes and therefore there is no reason to avoid some of the things simply because we do not like them. Usually, avoiding some of these things can have adverse effects or consequences on our part. A good example in this case is exercise or sports in general. Many people do not like taking part in these sporting activities such as running, playing football or brisk walking, yet they are all of great benefit to us. They are beneficial in form of staying fit and healthy. This explains why athletes and other people who do exercises are often of the recommended healthy weight but the situation is different for those people who opt to avoid doing exercises. The latter group of people tends to be overweight in most instances and they spend a lot of money treating one lifestyle disease after another. This leads to wastage of resources that would be otherwise saved if such people developed a liking for sports and exercising. Another example of something we dislike is seeing the doctor when we fall sick or when feeling unwell. Ideally, no one likes making a trip to the doctor but we need to do this anyway because avoiding doing this could have some serious consequences on us. For instance, one may end up developing a serious health condition just because he or she did not like the idea of seeing the doctor in the first place when the condition was still manageable.
