The use of restraints raises ethical issues in healthcare. This topic is essential because it gives insight into the ethical issues surrounding the restraints’ application in a medical set-up. Healthcare professionals, such as nurses and doctors, are ethically obliged to make sure they use restraints appropriately to avoid violating the fundamental rights of patients. These elements should not be used to coerce, punish, staff convenience, or discipline. Improper use of these devices will lead to sanctions by departments of health. Healthcare providers are only allowed to use this method as a last resort of keeping patients, visitors, and staff safe. However, some health conditions permit the use of restraints to protect them from harming themselves or other people.
