The U.S. Health Care Delivery System
One of the concepts I learned from the readings and assignments in the course that I believe will be most applicable to my professional discipline as a nursing and health care executive leader relates to public health. Part of the reason for the high health care costs and poor quality of health care delivery in America is the emphasis on medical interventions rather than preventative medicine. The readings and assignment helped me understand the importance of improving public health education and why focusing on determinants of health is critical to ensuring positive behavioral outcomes. I now recognize that attaining the overarching goal of health equity requires understanding how certain social and physical environments work to promote or impede good health for all (Shi & Singh, 2017).
