It involves defending, recommending and systematizing concepts of right and wrong conduct. It is integral to protect nations from the negativity of citizens, which is possible only when they are taught how to behave politely and how to differentiate between good and bad (Murphy, 2001). There is a strong need to educate people regarding the basics of life and ethical principles so that they can perform nicely and with an outstanding leadership style while emphasizing great decision-making models. This paper aims to introduce a conceptual framework of the ethical constructs of legal, moral or ethical standards and conclude which leadership style is best to solve the problem. The Conceptual Framework As a nurse, I know that we will have to face a large number of dilemmas throughout our professional lives. Sometimes, we may encounter more severe and uncertain situations, and the other times, there may be minor issues that are easy to deal with. However, the core purpose of these dilemmas is to prepare nurses to make the right decision and to show great and satisfactory outcomes. I work in a mental hospital, where multiple ethical issues take place on a daily basis, including huge dependence of patients on drugs and alcohol, and it is essential for me to provide all of them with compulsory treatment while ensuring their confidentiality and privacy. As is mentioned by Chris Herrera in Integrating Research Ethics and Undercover Hospital Fieldwork, the purpose of ethical frameworks is to assist a person to solve any of the ethical or moral dilemmas. They guide the individual toward making the right and appropriate decision promptly. The most common and widely famous ethical frameworks used in this situation are rights-based reasoning, intuitionism, duty-based reasoning and utilitarianism (Herrera, 2000). The intuitionism framework allows nurses like me to view every patient independently and carefully. All nurses working in the mental hospital can discover truths and plan care using their mental capabilities in an intuitive way. The duty-based reasoning, on the other hand, is an ethical framework that is based on the belief that sometimes only a handful of decisions should be made to ensure that an actual duty is being performed. According to the concept of the rights-based reasoning, natural goodness of a nurse remains involved in all of the action he or she takes or decisions that are made during working hours. Utilitarianism is an ethical framework that is purely base on one’s decision-making power and aims to benefit the people around him or her (Bardon, 2004). Dilemma I have faced multiple problems while working in the emergency department of the mental hospital, where patients are brought in a large number for psychiatric treatment and counseling.
