The Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) is a nursing workforce center established by Florida statute in 2001 to study the supply and demand for nurses in the state and make recommendations to address shortages. Primary goals of the FCN are to: 1. Develop a strategic statewide plan for nursing manpower in this state. 2. Convene various groups representative of nurses, other health care providers, business and industry, consumers, legislators, and educators. 3. Enhance and promote recognition, reward, and renewal activities for nurses in the state. For this project, you will use the link below to go to the FCN website and explore and review the types of information to be found there about the Florida nursing workforce. The website is easy to explore and contains several reports and a wealth of information about nursing in Florida. Suggested tabs to look for information are listed with the topics to review. You will write a short (2-3 pages max.) synopsis and discussion of the facts and information you find about: 1. Current RN workforce and RN vacancy rates (Statewide Data tab) 2. Projected demand for RNs in Florida and shortages (Forecast & Strategies tab, by 2025) 
3. RN demographics and education levels (Statewide Date tab) 
4. RN education levels and educational program enrollments 
5. Nursing supply and demand information for the North Central Region of Florida or East Central Florida, depending on where you currently work (Regional Data tab)

Florida has continuously struggled in the supply of registered nurses (RN). No significant achievement has been made because many nurses leave their jobs yearly. The growth and extent of nurses' supply vary from one region to another in Florida because of diversity in the geographic and demographic alignments ("Florida Center for Nursing, "2020a). The statistics by FCN shows that Florida is in a continuous crisis of the RN workforce. The reasons for nurses leaving work in mass should be addressed to develop strategies that help stabilize the workforce.
Projected demand for RNs in Florida and shortages
Projections show that Florida will face an acute shortage of nurses. The existing aging nurses make around 40 percent. They will soon be causing a massive lack of demand for nurses because the number of young nurses to replace them is almost negligible. Besides, the aging population will, by 2025, have reached a point where they will need medical attention. This will increase the demand for nurses in Florida. Therefore, the state of Florida has to put in strategies to counter this projection before it is too late. Training of new nurses should be given priority while the working environment for nurses is improved to retain the existing ones ("Florida Center for Nursing," 2020b).
RN demographics and education levels
FCN is mandated to conduct research on data about a program and evaluate the data for every nursing program that is approved. Before an education program is licensed, it is expected to comply with FCN conditions. Failure to adhere to the state attracts a fine imposed by the Nursing Board.
