A personal analysis of The Blue Cross by Arthur Doyle
As one of his first Father Brown stories, Chesterton wrote the story Blue Cross. He illustrates acts of a creative top criminal named Flambeau, who is artistic in playing around with peoples’ minds and finally swindling fortunes from them. A top Persian police chief, Valentino, is aware of a scheduled clergymen congress in London. He thinks this could be a perfect opportunity for a top criminal to find himself in the congress to get away with some valuable articles on display during the international congress. While onboard, he overhears a small priest, Father Brown, telling a certain woman about a sterling silver cross he is taking to the conference. Therefore, he becomes more interested in keeping the small priest on truck because, from his detective experience, he knows that criminals could likely follow such people.
It is also overly amusing the train seems to be the most popular means of transport ...
