I am a sri lankan medical doctor with 13 years of clinical experience. I immigrated to USA with the green card lottery in 2018 but bit reluctant to leave my job so I started to search career options in USA while I was in my country. Then I decided to choose PA program but sonography was on one side as the second option. After immigrating to texas , We settled down in Round Rock and did pre requisite course work for the PA program in Austin community College Round Rock hoping to get PA school acceptance within the texas without moving from the state, but being a foreign graduate and extreme competition on that program didn't give me a chance this year. Then I decided to move on to sonography program as it is much more familiar to me as a career. Out of my 13 years of working career, I worked in a radiology unit for 8 years by performing ultrasound scans, assisting ultrasound guided procedures, taking patients medical histories and giving pre and post operative advices. Further, performing a ultrasound scans is a kind of art and I enjoyed this throughout my career. Further, while adjusting to the texas life, I worked as a imagine service department volunteer in St.Davids hospital Round Rock so there I saw how the Radiology team is working here and after talking with the sonographers, it inspired me more to the Sonography field. I would like to serve the community in texas as a Sonographer after completing this sonography program successfully.

Success is always the confluence of a yearning heart and what it yearns for. It is always a dream of every student to end up in a field or career they love. My story is also the same, having dreamt of being a sonographer. My life experiences have continuously been a revelation and pushed me towards my burning desire to be a sonographer.
