Describe in detail a training program that will improve Violet’s general fitness level and allow her to remain a strong, independent woman. While most people would want to focus on a specific form of exercise in improving their levels of general fitness, research shows that it is critical to take a training program that includes the four forms of exercises to improve balance, endurance, flexibility, and strength (National Institute on Aging, 2020). These types of exercises in a training program have different benefits but are connected in terms of improving the abilities to perform other activities. For the 58-year old Violet who has maintained an active lifestyle since she was in her 30’s, it is not unusual to seek expert assistance when something is not right with her body. For instance, her gradual increase in body weight and declining strength in her upper body worry her. This paper describes in detail a training program to improve Violet’s general fitness to maintain her strength and become an independent woman. The paper will identify the number of days the client should train per week, the types of exercises, the number of sets and repetitions appropriate for Violet, and the necessary recommendations that will benefit her.
Type of training for Violet
The training program will involve balance exercises to help the client maintain her balance at her present age and in the future. For seniors clients such as Violet, exercises will improve and maintain their balance as it tends to worsen with age. Loss of balance at her age would point to increased cases of falls and fractures (National Institute on Aging, 2020). Therefore, balance exercises can help her to prevent falls by stabilizing her core muscles and become more independent. The second form of exercise in this program would be an aerobic exercise to improve her endurance. This is the most important form of exercise that improves breathing and maximizes blood oxygen (National Institute on Aging, 2020). Endurance ensures that the heart beats faster to increase the flow of blood into the muscles and to the lungs. Third, flexibility training for Violet will help her maintain her physical fitness. The program will also combine stretching with flexibility because stretch exercises serve to improve flexibility making it easier for her to handle daily activities that demand flexibility. Lastly, strength is an important form of training to increase Violet’s muscular fitness (National Institute on Aging, 2020).
