Leadership is an integral part of modern civilization as it is the fabric that holds together numerous systems. Human innovation has seen tremendous growth in the past three centuries, consequently having noticeable changes in the respective generations. This paper reflects on leadership and how leaders can adapt their approaches to guarantee success.
Complexity is the proper term to describe holding a leadership position in 2022, for it perfectly embodies the rich interconnectivity of the modern world. The idea states that when two things interact, the outcome is changed in unexpected and irreversible waysCITATION Mar17 \l 1033 (Uhl-Bien & Arena, 2017). Answering who I am as a leader will require understanding myself and others. Paying extra attention to detail will help realize how the interactions between people or people and objects affect a team’s productivity. People experience complexities in the workforce and personal lives without realizing it. Therefore, I envision myself as the leader that will help a team navigate complexities that will arise before, during, or after work.
I understand that direction is needed; otherwise, consequent actions will lack meaning. I prefer my efforts to be coherent because they will set an example for the rest of the team to follow. My values heavily influence how I approach leadership and derive motivation to lead a group through a task. Finding a sense of purpose is not based on luck; instead, an individual must be willing to work at it every day until it becomes routine. My true north is the ability to ensure my team is motivated, comfortable, and excited at the thought of what we can achieve together.
