Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is a standard procedure, but its basic design involves many variations. However, the sustainability and effectiveness of results after RYGB can be improved by focusing on such factors as limb length, gastroenterostomy diameter, and pouch size. The results can also be improved by extending the pouch since this alters food size. The researchers identified a crucial issue to study as it also helps in improving healthcare outcomes in regard to the RYGB.
