The main lesson this week was the role of technology in improving healthcare outcomes. The nursing field has continued experiencing tremendous changes over the past two decades. Technology has redefined how things are done. New technologies have ensured that some tasks, such as healthcare records and general diagnostics, have entirely been automated. Technology has improved collaboration between the stakeholders in the sector and respective teams. Improved communication between healthcare providers in a clinical setup promotes a rapid improvement in timely healthcare delivery and high-quality medical treatment.
Personal Strengths and/or Weaknesses
During my practicum, I realized my personal strengths include excellent technological skills, customer service skills, typing skills, and software proficiency. With the development of technology, these skills are important since I want to offer excellent services to patients. However, I realized I have a weakness in data analysis. With adequate training, I will counter this weakness and ensure I am up to date with the current technology.
Leadership
Technology defines nurse leadership, and vice versa too. In the current environment, a nurse leader has to be tecnosavvy and open minded to welcome new ideas in technology. For one who wants to be a nurse leader therefore, embracing technology is crucial. I learned that even though I was pursuing my nursing education, I needed continuous improvement because things might be so different by the time I joined the nursing mainstream.
