Wearable technology has immensely revolutionized the health industry by enabling doctors and patients to experience real-time access to their health data, thus facilitating early illness management (Lu et al., 2020). In addition, users of mHealth technologies can track their well-being. For instance, one can monitor their heartbeat or blood pressure. The increase in mobile phone users in the past few years has significantly contributed to the rise in the application mHealth wearable devices and telehealth in the health sector (Statist, 2022). Consequently, there are governmental bodies charged with regulating technology usage in patient treatment because the reliability of the devices is questionable.
For effective mobile health policies, the government formed agencies responsible for overseeing the implementation and use of mHealth devices and their applications and design. For instance, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is responsible for the intersection of broadband, health, and advanced technology. The body achieves its function by establishing ways of incentivizing telehealth, other forms of telemedicine, mobile applications, and identifying regulatory barriers. Another agency is Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The body is mandated to safeguard and advance public health.
