As leaders of their own health care organizations, Nurse Managers are required to both be the initiator of reengineering, reorganizations, redesign, and development for the sake of efficiency  (Edens, 2005), and, at the same time, conduits of knowledge for further improvement. As apparent here, Nurse Managers are important for research agencies and the administrative board to further improve their knowledge by testing new methods and techniques  (Decter, Norris, & Kramer, 1997). By knowing and using their own workplace, any development that could potentially be beneficial in the long run can be tested out. This could be done by either employing the whole workplace (e.g. whole hospital implementation) or at least a part of it (e.g. patients of ward C).
