 The practitioner asked Tony about his feelings and mod, which was helpful in the assessment to understand Tony’s feelings and reactions better. However, the practitioners can focus more on building trust and making Tony comfortable. Even before there is a diagnosis during the assessment, it is necessary to know more about the child or adolescent and make them comfortable (Hilt & Nussbaum, 2015). There is also a need to look into Tony’s relationship with the family members and psychiatric history. 
At this point in the clinical interview, do you have any compelling concerns? If so, what are they?
There are concerns that the practitioner seems to ask one question after another without going deeper and allowing Tony to express himself more. Tony does not readily admit to feeling hopeless and depressed, but he admits his moods changed drastically after breaking up with his girlfriend. Another concern is Tony reports being angry, and there is a risk of making rash decisions when angry and becoming violent (YMH Boston, 2013). 
 What would be your next question, and why?
I would ask Tony about recent changes that Tony’s parents have noticed and changes as this may indicate what symptoms are most prevalent and influence intervention. The question would provide clues on what the parents have observed and whether there has been social support.

The psychiatric assessment considers factors affecting a child’s or adolescent’s emotional, mental and behavioral functioning or development problems. The assessment is based on behavior and how they affect a child’s or adolescent’s life. It is also necessary to identify the issues causing distress and worsening mental and physical health. The thorough assessment also focuses on the child’s family and environment, influencing their well-being and coping.  Screening for depression helps to recognize cases that require urgent attention and focus on individualized care (Siu, 2016). The research article is scholarly and published in a journal and uses evidence from 2009 U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to support recommendations. While the article focuses on recommendation considering screening for depression in children and adolescents, there are proposals to monitor anxiety and depression to avoid deterioration.
