The nursing profession in the medical field is considered as the most important because nurses are the only people with the ability to develop close relationships with patients. Their role in helping enhance patient care is proven, and without their contribution, the medical field would be in shambles. Their role is thus crucial, and one cannot be at fault if they consider them as the cornerstone of the medical field. For such a critical profession, education is vital. Nursing education is a crucial step towards helping make sure that patient care is enhanced. In every profession, it is crucial to adapt to changes happening in the field and education is a key ingredient here. So, nurses ought to be encouraged to enhance their education and adjust to the changes happening around them with a particular focus on improving patient care.
Every single day offers one a chance to improve, grow, and to enhance their skills. I have career goals and intend to see myself succeed and thrive in what I do. With my current education level, the best opportunities are for gaining experience because I qualify for an internship and not a permanent position in an organization. I am yet to graduate, but I intend to continue enhancing my knowledge base and grow in the nursing field. My goal is in line with the IOM's future of nursing recommendations for achieving higher levels of education. As per a 2016 report by Committee for Assessing Progress on Implementing the Recommendations by IOM, the four recommendations by IOM seek to not only enhance patient care but also enhance the competency and knowledge of nurses. So, the IOM recommendations are thus a necessity in the medical field.
One professional certification and advanced degrees I would like to pursue is a Master of Science in Nursing or MSN. One of the reasons why I would like to pursue this degree is because I want to become a consultant in the nursing field. As a consultant, I know that I will be involved in forging the way forward for a majority of organizations. My goal as a consultant is to help grow the nursing field and increase its significance in the medical field. Making plans as well as finding ways to improve the field of nursing are ways I believe I can make a difference in the world. The second reason why I would like to pursue MSN is that I would like to become a teacher. My goal as a nursing educator is to help teach other nurses about the importance of the nursing field in the medical field. I would also like to teach or talk about health policies, advanced nursing methods, importance of continuing nursing education, and leadership skills in the field of nursing. To become an MSN, one needs to have relevant work experience in the field of nursing, be a registered nurse, as well as hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. These are the basic requirements of pursuing MSN, and I believe they will take time. So, I have set a time target for myself and believe that in the next 15 years, I will have already done MSN, and at a time like now that year, I will be starting my consultancy and teaching roles.
