The current health care system provides nurse practitioners (NP) with numerous opportunities. Notably, the changing dynamics in the profession means that the practitioners are presented with both present and future opportunities. In this sense, this paper will discuss some of the present and future opportunities for nurse practitioners in the California geographic area.
NPs in California are presented with several opportunities in their day to day activities in the profession. According to Coffman, Bates, Geyn, and Spetz (2018), California is one of the states that NPs are restricted to practice and prescribe under the oversight of physicians. One of the opportunities for NPs is the increasing demand for holistic and preventive care for people with chronic illnesses due to the aging American population. As a result, NPs should seek to explore the opportunity by increasing their knowledge and ability to provide holistic and preventive care.
