PCR is a reaction used to magnify small DNA portions. Genetic and molecular analyses of DNA require a significant amount of its samples, and PCR amplification facilitates the study of isolated DNA pieces. DNA produced after PCR magnification is used in laboratory functions such as Human Genome Project (HGP) mapping techniques, DNA fingerprinting, and genetic disorder detections (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2015). PCR process involves heating the DNA samples for it to separate into two elements of single-stranded DNA.
PCR , its Enzyme and the Function
The enzyme used in the PCR process is referred to as Taq polymerase. The enzyme is used PCR due to its high fidelity in DNA synthesis (Imanaka, 2011). After the DNA is heated to separate into two pieces, the enzyme builds two new strings of DNA using the parent string as the master. The process leads to duplication of original DNA with the newly formed molecules contains each strand of the old and new DNA. The freshly created strands develop other new copies through a continuous process, resulting in more than one billion original DNA duplicates (NHGRI, 2015)....
