Reese is a young boy with cerebral palsy. His primary means of mobility is a manual wheelchair. Reese, his mom, and his two older siblings have temporarily relocated and are now living in the upstairs of his grandparents’ house. As a result of the move, Reese has transferred to M. T. Watkins Middle School during the second semester of the school year. Although his mom is generally very involved with her child’s education, there are currently many stressors in her life.
Describe at least two of the stressors that Reese’s mom might be experiencing.
Explain how you think each of these stressors might affect her time and involvement with the school.

Emotions Associated With Being a Parent To a Child With Disability
Raising a disabled child is never easy, and they are many challenges to parents and guardians. Firstly, a parent may have denied that the child is disabled. It is a complex emotion to deal with because you feel the situation should change. Secondly, anxiety causes diversified changes to the parents. For example, they may change their attitudes towards something (IRIS Center, 2021). The attitudes will vary from negative to positive, depending on the situation. Thirdly, every parent has that fear of how their children will survive on their own in school or at home. Fourth, guilt and anger affect most parents. Sometimes they blamed themselves for having disabled kids. Out of anger, guilt is built, leading to depression and other related emotions (IRIS Center, 2021).
Additional Roles for The Parents With Disability
Disabled children require special care, and sometimes, a parent may be required to take an additional role to cater to the child. The parents might take the case manager's role to know the child's wellbeing in terms of healthcare, education, and other related services. Additionally, the parents will be required to have medical knowledge (IRIS Center, 2021). In this case, the parents will be required to understand medical problems associated with their child. It is also critical to communicate with others about the medical condition that might be facing the child. Like any other child, it is essential to help the child transition from one stage to another. Therefore, it is recommendable to become a specialist in matters of transitioning. Most importantly, a parent will be required to plan for the future of the child. Children with exceptional cases sometimes have complex issues, and it will be required to shape their future through planning (IRIS Center, 2021).
