Background
Pediatric immunization has long been recognized as a fundamental undertaking in the face of several threatening diseases. Much evidence points to the significant contribution this process has had in mitigating global casualties. However, other ensuing diseases are posing a major threat to infants, meaning that complacency at this stage cannot be tolerated. Surprisingly, despite the apparent results, this process has been met with significant resistance from various parties, particularly parents. In this case, parents possess immense power over their children because they are minors and, thus, cannot make coherent decisions that benefit them. Children caught during these circumstances can become disabled, suffer pain, get severely ill, and in the worst circumstances, die. Providing parents with relative education is regarded as an effective counterproductive measure that is bound to reduce their resistance and advance the number of immunized cases.
The first article meant to help ascertain the credibility of this statement is written by Aziz and his colleagues. It makes a concerted effort to extract the reasons that would lead to parents failing to place their children under the immunization process. The study, which is conducted in Malaysia consists of 396 parents as participants presenting a sizeable sample for the investigation. Further, the results are quite credible because the participants were of the multiethnic population living in a particular suburb, but of different demographic characteristics. The most effective research question in this study would be what would be “the possible factors which can act as barriers in childhood immunization?” (Aziz et al., 2020, p. 326). The realization of the prevailing factors would offer involved stakeholders to articulate the best informational materials that would help in countering these factors.
On the other hand, Saito and her colleagues conduct another related study, although their goal, in this case, is to highlight the impact that perinatal immunization education has on the actual actualization of the event. If an improvement in infants’ immunization outcome is to be achieved, Saito and colleagues (2016) highlight that providing immunization education will be at the center-stage. More importantly, the contents of education materials will have to be determined to ensure that they are the right fit. The study helps the nursing fraternity determine the extent to which their education to the parents had a meaningful impact. The most suitable research question in this article would be: what is the actual impact of perinatal immunization education?
