Define patient compliance and explain its importance in your field.
When a patient follows the recommended also dispensed routine as the physician and dispenser intend, they are said to be compliant. To be considered compliant, a person's conduct (such as taking drugs, eating healthy, or changing their lifestyle) must be in line with medical and health advice (Spencer, 2018). When a patient adheres to the recommended medication because of a delusional self and positive outcome, compliance with treatment is an indicator of positive behavior.
Identify the health care professionals' role in compliance and give examples of how the health care professional may contribute to non-compliance.
Among the responsibilities of healthcare providers in ensuring patient compliance is certifying that the patient is adequately informed about the therapy (Cortellini et al., 2019). The patient should be educated as well by the healthcare personnel to ensure compliance. For example, being unpleasant to the patient, failing to provide relevant information to the client, and poor communication are all instances of how healthcare personnel can induce non-compliance.
Compare compliance and collaboration.
Compliance reflects the extent to which a patient adheres to or follows the advice of a healthcare expert in regards to treatment recommendations (Laugesen et al., 2015). Here, the physician is viewed as the authority to be obeyed, and the patient is expected to comply. Thus, assisting patients in adhering to intervention is the goal of collaboration.
Compare and contrast patient education in the past with that practiced today.
There is a difference between patient teaching in the past and patient education in today's world. In the past, the authority was the healthcare practitioner. In this scenario, the patient was meant to follow the doctor's recommendations (Anderson et al., 2017). On the other hand, current patient education focuses on building a therapeutic relationship with the patient by learning.
