It occurs as a result of the gradual destruction of the cartilage that insulates the end of bones in joints and allows its frictionless movement (Chen et al., 2017). When the cartilage surface becomes rough, it is completely eroded as a result of which bones tend to rub over each other. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) mainly attacks the lining of synovial joints occurring as a result of autoimmune disease. When the body tissues are attacked by the own immune system of the body, it results in RA. Unlike Osteoarthritis, in RA, the lining of the joints are affected that cause painful swelling and eventually cause deformity of joints and erosion of bones (Guo et al., 2018). Pain, tenderness, stiffness, loss of movement, grating sensation, and bone spurs are the typical symptoms of Osteoarthritis (Zhang et al., 2016). In addition to swollen, tender and stiffed joints, weight loss, fever, and fatigue are typical symptoms of RA. The most commonly affected joints in Osteoarthritis are the spine, knees, hips, and hands.
