Pathophysiology
Undifferentiated blasts that accumulate in the bone marrow together with other tissues are the first signs of leukemia. This is accompanied by a consistent pain in the bones and joints and the lower abdominal belly (Hunger & Mullighan 2015).
Epidemiology
Parents' exposure to smoking, especially paternal smoking before conception, during the pregnancy as well as the child's childhood when the mother is breastfeeding is a possible indicator of leukemia. Exposure to pesticides is another sign (Klaus 2016).
Physical exam findings
Children with persisting headaches, vomiting rough time in concentrating among others are symptoms of leukemia that have already spread to the brain. Too much fatigue or tiredness and general weakness is a possible symptom too. These might be signs caused by other ailments but it is important to do a medical checkup on the same.
