The previous month, during my time at the hospital, I was asked by the Dean to go to the emergency department and stay the entire day there, serving people with infectious diseases. When I reached there and started checking their case histories, I could see that some of them had fever and diarrhea in the initial stage of infection while the others had muscle aches, fatigue, and cough. However, one of the patients looked much more severe to me than the rest, as his body was shaking with a slight rapid motion. When I checked his blood pressure and temperature, they were more than the normal range, and it was vital for me to call the doctor to get him checked as soon as possible. Thankfully, the doctor reached in the next few minutes, provided him with some medications, and after some time, his blood pressure and fever came down.

As a nurse, I have been taught that self-management programs aim to promote informed lifestyle choices. If I were not able to manage the entire situation myself, I would have seen him dying of infectious disease as well as high blood pressure. Thus, my decision of calling the doctor immediately and providing him with instant medications impacted his health, and he got recovered at a fast speed.
