Normal and Transient Flora
The resident flora contains specific microbes found at various places at different ages. The resident flora will re-establish itself when disturbed. On the other hand, transient flora contains non-pathogenic or probable pathogenic microbes that may reside in an area for a specific duration. The transient flora region is less crucial when the resident flora is not disrupted (Davis, 1996). However, transient microorganisms might inhabit and cause diseases when resident flora is disturbed. Besides, the resident flora, which is steadily present and consistently growing, is contingent on moisture, climate, nutrient presence, and inhibitory components. Also, they prevent infections by bacteria interference mechanisms. The mechanism entails competing for binding places on the host cell.
