Human Organ Systems
Organs in the human body function as part of an integrated group of structures known as organ systems. Examples of organ systems are as follows:
Cardiovascular system
Digestive system
Musculoskeletal system
Nervous system
Excretory system
Endocrine system
Respiratory system
These organ systems are responsible for crucial processes necessary for sustaining life, often working together, interacting with other organs in a functional network that keeps the body in balance (homeostasis). When homeostasis (the normal functioning of organ systems) is disrupted, disease may develop, causing injury to the body or even death. Watch this video for help with completing the assignment.
Choose 1 case study to explore a disease or organ malfunction:
Case Study 1 (Heart attack)
Case Study 2 (Lung cancer)
Click on the case study of your choice above to view the questions for that topic. Present your answers to the questions in the form of a 2–3-page paper.
Utilize at least 2 credible sources to support the arguments presented in the paper. Make sure that you cite them appropriately within your paper, and list the references in APA format on your Reference page.
Refer to your assigned textbook Concepts in Biology, Chapter 16.3: Circulatory and Respiratory Systems for help.
Formatting guidelines: In accordance with APA formatting requirements, your paper should include Title and Reference pages; should be double-spaced; and should include a running head and page numbers. Your paper should be 2–3 pages in length, not counting the Title page, and Reference page.

Question 1
The breathing system is necessary for existence. The breathing system provides oxygen to the human body while also eliminating carbon dioxide. The conversation of gases takes place amid the cells of the alveoli and the vessels, which are separated by a membrane. The majority of oxygen in the blood is bound to hemoglobin. Therefore, maintaining the health of your lungs is critical to your overall well-being. The lungs are the center of breathing in all human beings. Other organs support air transportation from the body into these two significant organs in the lungs (Woloshin, Schwartz, & Welch, 2008).
The other organs include; the nasal cavity, pharynx, oral cavity, larynx, bronchi, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm. The main component of cigarette that causes affect the respiratory system is tar and carbon monoxide. Therefore, the entry of tar particles into the respiratory system causes health problems for smokers (Woloshin, Schwartz, & Welch, 2008). This sticky material discolours the teeth and fingernails and affects some of the lung tissue. Tar contains benzopyrene, which is a carcinogen that can may cause lung cancer. In addition, carbon monoxide is an odourless gas that is lethal if inhaled because it is responsible for depleting the blood's oxygen supply.
Question 2
The usual quantity of COHb in the blood stream after being introduced to carbon monoxide in the environment is less than 1%. However, the COHb capacity in the body fluid is substantially more significant in chain-smokers. Also, the fullness levels are affected by a variety of aspects, counting the brand ...
