Lifestyle paper: Stress Management
Introduction
Student’s life is full of exciting and new experiences on a daily basis. Nevertheless, there is always much pressure to do well academically as well as pressure to be sociable. Therefore, as part of lifestyle changes in this semester, I am committed to managing stress and enhancing my way of living. Consequently, this paper will focus on why managing stress is needed, how the management will be accomplished, the challenges that will be experienced, and how the management will be assessed.
The need to manage stress
Prolonged exposure to a stressful lifestyle impacts the student’s emotional, physical, and mental health that ultimately leads to poor academic results. Apart from poor academic results, Bland (2012) argues that the stressful life in colleges and universities exposes students to a range of illnesses; common cold to severe heart diseases. This is because stress has a powerful impact on our well-being as it is a natural response that is activated in the brain. Therefore, reducing stress in everyday life is vital for maintaining our overall health, which improves our mood and allow us to be more productive in school (Ribeiro, 2018).
Personal challenges in managing stress
Colleges and universities are academically challenging as their courses require much more effort than high school did. With regards to that, I have a full 18 credit semester, which requires intense focus.
