With my educational background, I have a variety of work alternatives. The nursing profession offers many opportunities, and most specializations are in high demand due to the ever-rising population and need for quality healthcare. As a result, nurses with various certifications have numerous prospects in this field. I may work as a school or hospital nurse depending on my educational background. I, however, know that I am yet to reach the ceiling of my ambition since I am planning on getting additional qualifications and hence certifications. This will enable me to be a nurse leader or play a significant role in effecting change within the field.

According to the report, nurses should receive high-quality education and training to meet the demands of the continually evolving healthcare system. The report also encourages nurses to embrace continuous learning by picking up various certifications needed for the nursing field. Therefore, I love kids and would love to pursue my nursing studies in that direction. Due to the report's recommendations, I also want to continue pursuing nursing certifications, especially in pediatrics. This is in addition to my graduate and post-graduate studies in nursing. The certification that I would go for first would be the certified pediatrics nurse.
Getting such certification and being registered by that board calls for several requirements to be fulfilled. One must have gained experience working with children, both in terms of hours spent in a busy pediatrics environment and the number of years working in such an environment. This needs around five years of working experience. I plan on also going for my Masters in Nursing sometime later, perhaps after six years of working. It might take a shorter time due to my certification and experience. I am therefore putting a timeline of around eight years to fully achieve my goals.

The current professional environment is very competitive. One must learn the ropes quickly and understand the requirements to stay afloat in the competition. In the nursing field, attaining additional skills and expertise is the one way to remain competitive and even punch through a higher ceiling in my career. I believe that increasing my educational competency will open a whole world of possibilities and opportunities for me. There is a high demand for nurses worldwide due to an acute nurse shortage in rising nursing needs (Buchan, Charlesworth, Gershlick & Seccombe, 2019). However, the demand needs qualified nurses with a lot of expertise. Having greater academic qualifications than the rest of the field comes in. I want to always be prepared for what the future holds for me in terms of the professional opportunities in nursing.
