 Incorporates theories and concepts from nursing and related sciences and this allows the nurses to integrate scientific findings from diverse fields to provide advanced nursing care to diverse populations. The scientific underpinnings for practice should also inform guide nursing practice to address diverse patient needs in diverse practice settings (Sherrod & Goda, 2016). There is also a focus on continual improvement of care delivery, and nurses provide care across diverse settings.
2. Incorporate current and emerging genetic/genomic evidence in providing advanced nursing care to individuals, families, and communities while accounting for patient values and clinical judgment. (AACN I.2)
  Incorporating genetic/genomic evidence in healthcare provisions, including family history, helps in diagnosis and nursing care planning. Genetic/genomic evidence is increasingly essential in supporting health interventions improving the quality of care, patient outcomes, and patient safety (McCance, 2019). Screening/diagnosis are closely linked with interventions to reduce disease burden for individuals, families, and communities, with nurses relying on evidence-based recommendations. Nurses are better placed to provide patient-centered care considering genetic/ genomic evidence in health promotion interventions. 
3. Compare normal anatomy and physiology to alterations in function and regulation of body organs and systems in response to stressors. (AACN I.1)
There is an emphasis on acquiring basic knowledge on the structure and function of the body organs, and understanding the human body is necessary to providing quality care. At the end of the course, there ought to be a better understanding of the anatomical structures and recognize the various body systems (organs and tissues) and functions. Understand how different body systems mediate response to stress and how the nervous, endocrine, and immune mechanisms and the body organs involved. A background in cellular biology and pathophysiological processes provides insight into how deviations from the core body functions affect health outcomes.
