Health Care Delivery Models and Nursing Practice
The United States healthcare system has seen transformative changes through the ongoing federal and state-wide changes to improve care for Americans. Legislators have been engaged in numerous debates leading to progressive laws that have created a robust system that meets the needs of different stakeholders, including nurses. While some legislations target sweeping changes throughout the healthcare industry, others are discipline-focused. Such efforts demonstrate the unwavering efforts by Congress to ensure that all departments receive appropriate laws for guiding their operations, protecting their interests, and ensuring that they contribute effectively to the overall reputation of the U.S. healthcare sector. As a result, lifting barriers to their practice will significantly improve care delivery by these experts.
Once this bill becomes law, it will significantly impact the nursing practice, roles, and responsibilities in healthcare settings. For instance, Morris (2023) reveals that advanced nurse practitioners will gain the autonomy to provide referrals to patients for specialized services such as nutritional and other medical therapies. These experts will also supervise pulmonary rehabilitation, certify terminal diseases, and execute many other services reserved for physicians. Moreover, they will become licensed to diagnose patients, recommend tests, interpret them, prescribe medications, and manage and monitor treatment protocols (Morris, 2023). Offering these services without interference from physicians and other supervisors will significantly improve access to healthcare while allowing nurses to utilize their training maximumly...
