Understanding the importance of reflective thinking in the provision of care is essential for any healthcare practitioner. It allows him to appreciate his performance better and re-align his actions towards the strategic implementation of the same. Accordingly, this article would focus on my experience, goals, and objectives relative to the Practicum Experience Plan. This includes my perception of the challenges I faced and what I would like to apply in my future practice. All in all, it is my belief that performing an in-depth reflection of these experiences could be helpful to improve my overall learning experience.
My goals and objectives for my Practicum Experience Plan include utilizing evidence-based knowledge in creating a Comprehensive, Focused SOAP of Psychiatric illnesses. With the help of the template provided, we assessed our patients’ complaints and circumstances, including the substance used (or abused), medical history, ROS, and Diagnostic Results, among others. Accordingly, one of my goals and objectives is to familiarize myself with these SOAP templates that I can use in my everyday practice since knowing these could improve the overall data gathering, patient assessment, and delivery of treatment. Although there are many things that I can still improve, I believe that I was able to sufficiently achieve this during my experience since I had to work on multiple cases using the same template.
