Nursing job duties and opportunities vary, depending on the type of nursing offered (Reid et al., 2017). Nurses provide care to patients and help with treating patients, But their responsibilities, level edification, and licensure requirements, and earnings are different.
More experience attracts more earnings
According to American Nurses Association, the more nurses learn, the higher their pay and qualifications. For one to qualify as an advanced practice registered nurse (a nurse anesthetist, a midwife, or a practitioner), one has to have a high level of education (American Nurses Association). For a nurse to be registered, they must attain a bachelor's degree in nursing. Apart from that, there are also alternatives routes to becoming a registered nurse. One of which includes getting an associate's nursing degree or a diploma from a recognized nursing institution (Reid et al., 2017). By completing either bachelor's degree or a nursing degree, the nurses are said to have job qualifications. Clinical training experience is part of nursing education.
In addition, all nurses require either or both a certification or license. License and certification necessities differ by job specification and by state. It typically consists of finalizing a recognized nursing program, paying a fee, and passing an exam.
Professional Goals
Goals and timelines for professional certification and advanced degrees are essential in career development. Setting goals encourages skill improvement and motivation. One of the key goals is to fully finish professional certification or degree that supports nursing career progression (Reid et al., 2017). Unending learning progresses existing skills and can help even in the future, for instance, when applying for promotion or even change area of specialization in nursing. According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), there is a high need for nurses to further their education and obtain bachelors', master's, or doctors' degrees. The IOM would wish to more nurses doing so. As health care and patients' needs continue to become more complicated, a large number of hospitals are developing new standards for their nurses (Reid et al., 2017). For example, when hospitals hire nurses hiring nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Will improve efficiency in offering highly skilled services to patients. Nurses carry out many roles that are based on skills like administering injections and intubating patients. They are also involved in the decision-making process, promoting patients' maintenance, and carrying out evidence-based care.
