God marvelously created our bodies. Though the bodies vary in shape and size, they all have one thing in common: they are one-of-a-kind. A person must learn to be content with his or her body and is not expected to keep up with the latest body trends. Society’s expectations of the “body” must not prevent a person from being at ease with his or her own body (Johnson & Morris, 2005). The notion that there is an epidemic of obesity in America is a false notion. Johnson & Morris (2005) explains that BMI is the leading cause of this notion. The BMI, which is used to determine a person’s weight classification, is inaccurate. Other methods could provide an accurate result, but they take too much time and require the assistance of experts. However, it is still necessary to be aware of one’s body, which necessitates healthy weight management.
In an activity entitled “My Relationship with Food,” the results revealed that the relationship with food is relatively healthy, but there are still some modifications to be done with the diet and food intake, for example, trying out different diets and being a picky eater. If a person has a healthy relationship with food and deliberately applies it to himself, that person may be able to help others maintain a healthy relationship with food. Obesity is also seen as a problem among American children and teenagers. It is beneficial if they are assisted by someone who has a healthy relationship with food. This person can assist by modeling healthy eating habits, limiting snacks and soda, and being physically active (Johnson & Morris, 2005).
