Cigna healthcare needs a strategic plan that considers the present while also factoring in the future. This means that it needs a strategy that will help it cement its place at the top while also granting it sustainability. Below are specifications on what Cigna needs to do to help address issues pertaining to network growth, nurse staffing, resource management, and patient satisfaction.
Network growth
One way that Cigna healthcare can grow its network is through expansion. Expansion for Cigna healthcare will, of course, be costly but will help the organization develop a great understanding of people’s healthcare needs. Every potential expansion points will offer the organization a greater understanding of people’s healthcare needs. This will thus help the organization grow its network as it becomes part of the solution to people’s healthcare needs.
Nurse staffing
With regards to nurse staffing, Cigna needs to adopt ways it can reduce burnout in their employees while also enhancing productivity. Here, there are two things that can be considered. The first thing is an increase in the number of nursing staff. With more nurses being brought in, this will make it easier for the ones available to have enough time to rest. Secondly, Cigna can consider the idea of shifts to help avoid instances where some nurses are being overworked. A good plan could, for example, consider 8-hour shifts to allow nurses time to rest or grow as some are already enrolled in advanced nursing classes. Even though these two ideas could help enhance productivity, Cigna should also consider training as a way to enhance productivity.
