Health Informatics and Areas Of Specialty Research

Essay Instructions:

Review the informatics groups/specialty areas defined in the lectures for Topics 1 and 2 (public, clinical, nursing, laboratory, pharmaceutical, software/medical device vendors and other health care informatics groups – HIM, admitting, finance, and administrators).
Select the three informatics groups/specialty areas that you believe have the greatest impact on informatics and rank them as to importance and preference. Note: This ranking will influence how you are grouped for the Collaborative Learning Community assignments in this course.
In a 1,000-1,250-word paper, include the following:
Provide comprehensive, accurate, and relevant information on the three informatics groups selected.
Clearly state the impact the three groups you selected have had on informatics. Be sure to present compelling arguments.
Define ranking and provide reasoning for ranked choices.
Incorporate history and current position within informatics of the three groups.
Identify an area of interest, evaluate its current state, and discuss future trends and challenges.
Provide a brief review of the various areas of health care informatics.
Select specific area of health care informatics and provide evaluation of current state.
Provide information on future trends with selected area of health care informatics.
Clarify the specific challenges for the selected area of health care informatics.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Surface errors are pervasive enough that they impede communication of meaning. Inappropriate word choice and/or sentence construction are used.
Frequent and repetitive mechanical errors distract the reader. Inconsistencies in language choice (register), sentence structure, and/or word choice are present.
Some mechanical errors or typos are present, but are not overly distracting to the reader. Correct sentence structure and audience-appropriate language are used.
Prose is largely free of mechanical errors, although a few may be present. A variety of sentence structures and effective figures of speech are used.
Writer is clearly in command of standard, written, academic English.

Argument Logic and Construction
Statement of purpose is not justified by the conclusion. The conclusion does not support the claim made. Argument is incoherent and uses non-credible sources.
Sufficient justification of claims is lacking. Argument lacks consistent unity. There are obvious flaws in the logic. Some sources have questionable credibility.
Argument is orderly, but may have a few inconsistencies. The argument presents minimal justification of claims. Argument logically, but not thoroughly, supports the purpose. Sources used are credible. Introduction and conclusion bracket the thesis.
Argument shows logical progression. Techniques of argumentation are evident. There is a smooth progression of claims from introduction to conclusion. Most sources are authoritative.
Clear and convincing argument presents a persuasive claim in a distinctive and compelling manner. All sources are authoritative.

Introduction
According to Nelson & Staggers (2016) health informatics refers to the study of methods and various resources for the management of health information. Health or medical informatics is a discipline that is consist of all aspects of healthcare information science; ranging from clinical applications to fundamental research. Health informatics is made up of all means of understanding and also for promoting an effective organization, management as well as use of information in healthcare services. Despite the fact that the field of health informatics shares some areas of scope with other healthcare specialties and disciplines of healthcare, health informatics has however, developed its own areas of specialization or emphasis and approaches that has made it to be different with the rest. There is a wide spectrum for areas of specialties in health care informatics; however, the three key most important ones include Clinical informatics, Pharmacy Informatics and Nursing informatics.
This paper provides comprehensive, accurate, and relevant information on the three most important specialties for health informatics.
Three Main Areas for Specialties for Health Informatics
To begin with it is important to remember that there are vast areas for specialization that one can opt for; however, this paper will only be discussing three specialties that are considered to be of great importance. The first specialty of health informatics that would be described in this paper is Nursing Informatics.
Nursing Informatics
Nursing informatics is one of the subsets of medical informatics that entails Nurses’ mode of interaction with different healthcare technological systems. It is an area that will increasingly become even more important as most of health facilities are putting records for their patients online and also trusting their nursing team to be able to handle the transition in the care situations in their EHRs. Those who specialize in the nursing informatics are the groups that will be depended on so as to accurately document transitions of care; regardless of whether a patient is transiting from a setting of ambulatory setting to a hospital setting, or better still from a hospital to a rehabilitation center. This is something that is needed for a meaningful use for the criteria of program. As compared to the clinical informatics, nursing informatics on the other hand, nursing informatics is still growing as a field for education where students can receive academic degrees, diplomas and certificates (American Nurses Association., 2001).
Clinical Health Informatics
Clinical or Health informatics technology consists of the information technology and electronics that are used mostly during the course of patient care. Technological health informatics is also referred to as the clinical informatics. Clinical or technological informatics is defined as the implementation and evaluation of different communication systems. These communication systems play a great role in improving patient’s health and care, and also the relationship between physicians and their patients. It is also important to remember that clinical informatics is made up of...
