Health care in the United States should be both affordable and accessible to all citizens. Medical care should be among the fundamental rights of every human being. However, the introduction of laws requiring Americans to have health insurance covers has led to some individuals unable to get the medical attention. From a registered nurse perspective, no one should die from diseases that can be treated because they cannot afford the costs. The beneficence principle requires that a caregiver helps patients get well, irrespective of their status, and thus this defines that it is a right for every individual. The rule utilitarian theory is also in support of people acting in ways that benefit the most individuals in a just and fair manner (Wheat, 2009). In this view, it is just to ensure that no one lacks health care because of unaffordability. The American Health Policy should, therefore, include clauses that ensure that everyone can access essential medical care.
