A current federal regulation introduced to reform the healthcare delivery system is the Sustaining Excellence in Medicaid Act of 2019 (HR3253). Michigan representative Debbie Dingell is responsible for the introduction and sponsoring of the bill. The bill was introduced in the congress on 13th June and was enacted by the presidents of 6th august 2020 (KDP LLP, 2019). The bill aimed at reforming multiple Medicaid programs by issuing various extensions in its different provisions. It included reforms such as allowing Medicaid appropriations through the 2024 fiscal year and altering multiple Medicaid programs and funding criteria. The reform is essential since it eradicates the disparities resulting from ignoring grievances from patients legally entitled to a cover under the Medicaid program. It also enables fraud control units to examine objections from non-institutionalized patients.
Additionally, the bill introduces a reform that extends Medicaid eligibility for folks to protect themselves against spousal impoverishment. Spouses from lower socioeconomic backgrounds may sometimes fail to secure Medicaid cover since it does not open to them.
