One might go to bed feeling pretty certain of what they want in life, but then wake up the following day full of doubts. At times, it takes big events, while at other times it takes little events to inflate our faith and take us back to the track. I have always been passionate about human health and life in general. Human suffering speaks to me and gets me into action. This is the major reason why I got into nursing. However, when I joined the NICU team as a part of my volunteer experience, I did not know that my passion and love for nursing was about to be vindicated. Education is of great importance. It is the things that we do outside classroom that rekindles the fire that is hidden deep within us. NICU team is committed to the provision of quality health care to preterm babies. My work in the team mostly involved helping the nurses keep the patients comfortable. At times, I interacted directly with the patients and helped them relax. Being a mother to a preterm baby, I understood them more personally and they appreciated the connection. Most satisfying was my involvement and interaction with the preterm babies, especially those with symptoms of drug withdrawal who generally tend to be more irritable.
